Voluntary Project Executive
- part-time, flexible commitment

Organisation information

Work&Teach aims to bring the worlds of education and work tangibly closer together, to the benefit of both. It is an innovative social enterprise supported to encourage and enable enterprising individuals from industry, business and the professions to teach in schools and colleges part-time. This will bring a different type of person into the classroom, on a flexible basis, contextualising the curriculum and delivering cutting-edge practical skills. Committed participants pass on their knowledge and expertise whilst still continuing in their chosen career, developing their own potential in the process.

After some initial research and planning, Work&Teach has reached a stage where the model needs to be finalised, tested and scaled up. This will involve an objective assessment of the business opportunity, the development of a workable model, business planning, piloting, evaluation then sustainable funding. Although there is no funding for salaries or expenses at this early stage, it is expected that Work&Teach will generate a sustainable income in the future and some initial start up funding has already been secured.

The role

The part-time Volunteer Project Executive role is available at Work&Teach to a dynamic, analytical individual who is interested in social innovation, education, policy research, practical research, social entrepreneurship and communications. The successful applicant should be able to show evidence of excellent intellectual skills, creativity, self-motivation, self-management and interpersonal skills through any combination of academia, previous paid work or voluntary experience.

The successful applicant will contribute to all strands of activity within the programme, but especially business planning, research, host school/college recruitment and administration. The role offers an exciting opportunity to help start up a new education social enterprise, with the option of establishing and moving into a more long-term, paid position in the future. All roles at Work&Teach are flexible and part-time, allowing staff to experience first-hand the opportunities and challenges of portfolio working. As Work&Teach does not have a permanent office yet, flexible/remote working arrangements are the only current option.
